Meet Dr. Harley Dresner
Background and Education
Dr. Dresner was a lifelong New Yorker prior to moving to the Twin Cities. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree with Distinction from Cornell University. During his undergraduate years, he spent a semester in the United Kingdom, studying the History and Philosophy of Science at University College London. Dr. Dresner completed medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, during which time he was selected for inclusion into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Postgraduate residency training in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery was completed at the University of Minnesota, where Dr. Dresner earned a Master of Science Degree through the study of novel surgical techniques to correct facial paralysis. He also received the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award during his residency. Dr. Dresner's mentors proved instrumental in his decision to pursue fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which was also completed at the University of Minnesota.
Following completion of fellowship training, Dr. Dresner became dual board certified by the prestigious American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Minnesota. He continues to derive immense personal satisfaction through the education of medical students, residents, and fellows at the University of Minnesota. This academic affiliation enhances his ability to practice "state of the art" Facial Plastic Surgery.
When at home, Dr. Dresner enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He has embraced the Twin Cities, and is accordingly currently trying to teach his daughter to ice skate. He closely follows the Minnesota Wild hockey team, a hobby facilitated by his position as one of the team's Maxillofacial trauma surgeons. Maintaining some ties to his roots, though, he remains fiercely loyal to his beloved New York Yankees.
Dr. Dresner thoroughly enjoys offering his patients the full spectrum of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures within the realm of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Patients' decisions to pursue plastic surgery, whether cosmetic or reconstructive in nature, are oftentimes complex and emotional. Dr. Dresner thus places great importance upon his working relationships with his patients. Pre-operative consultations are devoted to determining each patient's specific goals and then educating patients as to how each goal can be realized. Comprehensive treatment plans customized to the desires of each patient are generated. Patients are closely monitored post-operatively to ensure that optimal results are attained. Whether or not a particular treatment is selected, and irrespective of the complexity of a given treatment, each patient must receive the highest possible quality of care. Dr. Dresner ultimately seeks to provide a natural, esthetically-pleasing, more youthful look such that outer beauty compliments the beauty within.
